      2016-2017 Monthly Curriculum Calendar

 

Refer to the guide below to learn which sport or activity students will be focused on each month. Also, be sure to check out the links under each month for some fun at home activities for you and your family to enjoy while staying active!

September - Soccer

Soccer is an excellent sport for students who enjoy running, teamwork, and kicking things! It's also a very easy sport to practice at home - all you need is a soccer ball!

October - Football

There's no better time than the Fall to kick off football season. Students will learn the skills of football through exercises called lead-up games.

November-Volleyball

Bump, set, spike! The vollyeball unit is always a student. This year we'll aim to introduce students to the game and the skills needed for  an effective offensive and defensive player.

December - Gym Games

With the Holidays looming and excited kids to boot - We'll be taking a break from a specific sports unit in December. Students will participate in a variety of exciting athletic games and activities.

January - Hockey

Students will learn the basic skills of hockey: passing, stick-handling, and shooting.

February - Basketball

Basketball is a sport that promotes endurance, hand eye coordination, and strategic thinking. It is also very accessible as it requires very little equipment.

March - Bowling

Bowling is both entertaining and athletic - and can be enjoyed as a recreational or competitive sport.

April - Track

Get the running shoes out! Students will be learning about short and long distance running as well as other track & field activities in this unit.

 

 

May - Softball

Take me out to the ballgame! As summer approaches, the softball unit will be the student's send off for the year, with hopefully ample outside time!
